4th Interventional Pain Academy Cadaver Workshop under the Patronage of the Czech-Slovak Section of WIP

The Interventional Pain Academy (IPA) is proud to announce its 4th edition of the highly specialized cadaver workshop, which will take place on November 6–7, 2025, at the WARSAW LAB – Practical Medicine Institute, Poland.

This educational event is held under the scientific leadership of faculty members from the Czech-Slovak Section of the World Institute of Pain (WIP-CS). The workshop will be chaired by Michal Matias, MD, FIPP, with active participation from senior WIP-CS members including Juraj Mlaka, MD, FIPP, EDRA; Ladislav Kočan, MD, PhD, FIPP; Martin Griger, MD, PhD, FIPP, DESA; Ľubomír Poliak, MD, FIPP; and Peter Lenčéš, MD, FIPP. The international faculty will be led by Robert Rapčan, MD, FIPP, MBA, PhD, founder of IPA.

Educational Focus and Structure

The workshop is designed to provide intensive hands-on training in fluoroscopy- and ultrasound-guided interventional pain procedures, replicating real clinical practice with a strong emphasis on safety, anatomical precision, and technical mastery.

With a strictly limited number of 20 participants, the program ensures a 2:1 delegate-to-faculty ratio, allowing personalized instruction and direct supervision by experienced FIPP-certified physicians.

Training is structured into five advanced cadaver stations, each guided by expert faculty, covering the full spectrum of interventional techniques from basic to advanced levels.

Key Procedural Modules Include:

  • Transpedicular Basivertebral Nerve Ablation (BVN): Full procedural pathway from diagnostic medial branch blocks to radiofrequency ablation
  • Resadisc® Technique: Minimally invasive discogenic pain treatment using bipolar RF energy
  • 7StarScope Integration: Real-time endoscopic navigation combined with ultrasound for advanced precision
  • Spinal and Peripheral Procedures:
    • Lumbar and cervical facet injections
    • SI joint and S1 root injections
    • Epidural injections (interlaminar and transforaminal)
    • Intra-articular injections (shoulder, knee, hip, elbow)
    • Peripheral nerve stimulation techniques

The workshop also includes practical application of novel technologies such as the Epi-NavigatorIESS (Interventional Endoscopic Spine Surgery) systems, and ultrasound-enhanced targeting approaches.

Training Methodology

Participants will rotate in small groups (4 per station) through cadaver-based modules, complemented by brief focused lectures and case-based discussions. The curriculum is tailored to reflect real-world scenarios, enhance procedural confidence, and reinforce algorithm-based decision-making in chronic pain management.

This cadaver-based workshop represents a valuable platform for interventional pain physicians to engage in skill refinement, hands-on exposure to emerging techniques, and evidence-informed best practices. We look forward to welcoming both national and international delegates in Warsaw this November.
